my little super hero capes

It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's my mom's latest creations! My mom has been making these capes for years, but now she's selling them on Etsy. You can find Tyler wearing his Super Hero cape to the grocery store and attempts to wear it to church! "what if someone needs my help!" he says. Each cape is handmade, embroidered, and adorable. The capes fit safely around the chest (instead of tying around the neck) and they're machine-washable. They're sturdy and they've withstood the test of time in our family. Trust me--they're worth every penny. (We put them on the grandkids one morning to take pics last week while we were all in Denver and they seriously wore them until bed time. In fact, my neice Rylee went to bed wearing hers!)Check out my mom's Etsy shop to learn more! I thought I'd share b/c these would make a great Christmas present! Chasey has one now and even he loves to run around and let the cape billow behind him!

Our future with Tyler as a teenager...

Tonight for Family Home Evening we decided to watch Mickeys Christmas Carol (which was only $8.88 at Target by the way!!!) As kids we used to watch this movie all of the time and I was so excited to watch it w/ the kids. So the 4 of us were snuggled up on the couch watching it and Phil kept asking questions. I think trying to bug Ty, I don't know. But weird questions about Donald Duck and Jiminey Cricket. So finally Ty looks over at him dead serious and annoyed and says, "Dad, would you just watch the movie?" We were shocked and laughing so hard. What a little snot!!

Just another day at the Museum

Tyler has been obsessed with the movie The Night at the Museum. My niece Lexi has also joined the obsession. So when we told them we were taking them into New York to the Museum of Natural History they both freaked. Strangely Ty's main concern was seeing Atilla the Hun. I wasn't sure he was there, but I figured we could wing it.
So after a rough start (forgot the stroller, didn't have enough cash to pay for train ticket so we hopped off at the next station to buy tickets, got split up from Jenny and Trav, etc.) we made it into NYC. Chase's first and really he didn't care.

This is how the boys were on the train the whole time. Hyper!!

Why is it that Trav and I end up looking like a couple?!?!? Phil is there to the left of me I swear!

Walking up to the museum was so fun. It is just like in the movie! The kids were really impressed...ok, and so was I.

Central Park is across the street & so we ate our sack lunches there. When you go into the city you have to be thrifty when you can! Our 3 sodas were $9!!

I was disappointed that the inside of the museum wasn't JUST LIKE THE MOVIE but it was still pretty sweet.

Tyler and Lexi's beloved "Rexi." In the movie he's just like a dog fetching a bone. It is amazing seeing how tall these dinos were. Freaky!!

We didn't see the Easter Island "Dum dum give me gum gum" but it was there somewhere. This museum is massive so we'll have to go again sometime. And we didn't see Atilla so when I saw a guy w/ a beard in the Asian People section I just told them it was him. He was wearing a silk robe situation, so I told them it was him in his PJ's. YOU don't know that's not what he wore to bed!!

Bio-Diesel Baby Part II

This was featured on my sister Jackie's blog and I'm stealing it b/c I think it's cool. I however listened to this months ago, but I am WAY more mature than she.

"My bro-in-law Dan owns Alta Fuels, a company in Alamosa, Colorado that produces biodiesel. It's a crazy-cool business--they take agricultural products and turn them into fuel. Done and done. It's a way smart business. On a side note, sometimes when I drive home from work I listen to National Public Radio(NPR) because I can't help but like it (shut up, Doug!!), and during my commute they play a news program called "All Things Considered" that I quite enjoy.Well, it's with great pride that I recently figured out that Danny and his company were covered on this program last year and--gasp!--he was even quoted on the air!! I'm sure my sister told me about this months ago, but as a new NPR convert I didn't truly appreciate it.So check out this link if you want to listen to the interview and support (a) me, (b) Dan, or (c) renewable, biodegradable, and non-toxic forms of energy fuel."

Buffet-Before and After

I had to show this little puppy off b/c after hours of cleaning, sanding, bug control (NASTY!), fixing, hammering, repairing, 6 total coats of paint and putting it back together I need somebody to see it! It was $5 on ebay and now it's holding all my photo albums. Thank you lady in the mobile home!!! (please note on the before pictures that what you're seeing is grime on the bottom. Yes, I had that in my car!!)

Good lookin' boys

Do you ever look at your kids (well, if you have them I guess) and think "dang you're cute!" I did today getting ready for school.
