You get off the bus and your little brother sucker-punches you in the stomach looking like this. B/c this is what happened. Chase did this to Ty the other day. He kept this tape on his face for about 30 mins (dang that was quiet!) b/c he wanted to walk to the bus stop and show Tyler. This kid never makes me stop laughing.

Jenny Lind?
I don't know who she is-but this is the style of bed that I want for the boys. 2 twins. Can you just see them painted red or dark blue? If any of you in my area ever see one at a garage sale or anything you must call me immediately! I'm just in love w/ these vintage styles!
on a side note:I can't remove the underlining. daaaang. also-i found this pic online-why is there a bed in the kitchen?!?!

I have decided
that I'm not a very content person. My parents probably already know this-I'm a little slow on the uptake. When I'm at someone's older home (like 60 years old)I long for the days of simplicity. I'm reminded that "back in the day" people got along just fine w/out all of these modern conveniences. And life was just simple. I'm tired of feeling rushed and hurried. Truthfully-in the grand scheme of things-most of what I'm hurrying around doing really isn't that important. I just want to wear an apron and bake and nurture my family. No more running around. I want to go to the corner market for groceries. Have my milk delivered. Sigh...
but THEN I go to a brand new house full of all the modern conveniences and fancy things and I want THAT. I want to push a button and have instant boiling water. My laundry done in 20 mins. My vacuum system in the wall. I want it all baby!!!
And yet I am perfectly content in my home which is neither of the above. It's about 25ish years old and it gets the job done. It doesn't have alot of character which annoys me, but it keeps us warm and dry. I feel safe in it which is good. But I could easily drop it for an old or new house. Easily.
Not sure what I'm getting at here. We're not moving anytime soon. I just had this realization. And frankly-who cares? Do you?

Really National Geographic? Really?
This morning Phil and the boys were reading this book while I ate breakfast with Eliza. We're listening as Phil reads the following,
"The sun, and everything in our solar system (even us!), is made of the exploded leftovers of ancient stars. We are made of old stardust!"
Phil stops and I stop. We're staring at each other in confusion. Phil questions if he just read what he read. Yes-this book is from the elementary school's library. Who knew we'd find our origins in a book by the National Geographic. Luckily Ty and Chase had no idea what Phil was talking about and we quickly reminded them that Heavenly Father and Jesus made us-and we're pretty sure we aren't just "stardust." That just sounds so fairly-like to me! Anybody else find this to be a little disturbing? I can see this in a public library, but I just think the elementary school's should have books full of the basics. I mean-if they have this-why not the Book of Mormon and Bible too?!?!?!?

Some boys playing hard
When the weather gets nice you'll often find this scene at our house. I relish in this time b/c I'm in the house feverishly cleaning up while the whirlwind is outside. Then I sit on the porch w/ Eliza and watch the boys.be careful Ty-I wonder if it crashed into his face?!??!
Why the grapefruit brings back good memories
Ever since Tyler was about 2 years old, we've been sharing a grapefruit together. We both would sit quietly and eat segment after segment quietly. Then at the end I squeeze the juice into a spoon and that's our "medicine." We act silly-like we're dying until we get the meds. Chase and I started doing it when Tyler started preschool and it's the exact same routine. It really works best in twos. The other night I did it with all 3 kids and it's just not the same. The grapefruit went too fast, complaints were made that so-and-so got more than me. So for now we'll keep it to a mom and me thing and enjoy ourselves!
This might get annoying...

My Buddy turned 4!
Here Chase is this morning in the fireman costume from Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Jim-and this is the beastly firetruck I got off of ebay. Things sure are smaller on that tiny picture on the screen. Yowza! He LOVES it and so I'm willing to live with it!And here is my baby Chasey at just a few months old. His fat cheeks were to die for! Chase has challenged us as parents in so many ways, but he also makes me laugh uncontrollably and I couldn't imagine life without him! He loves his brother and sister so much and protects them already. He's so proud to be 4 (or 18 depending on the time of day you ask). Tonight putting him to bed Phil mentioned that he'd never be 3 again and he as quite put out about it. He said, "not even when I'm a dad?" These comments get me through the day. Seriously. I love you big guy! never stop snuggling me and telling me how much you love me!
