To Facebook or Not to Facebook...

THAT is the question.
My friend Candace recently sent me an invitation to be her "friend" on her facebook. Well, in order to look at it I have to create my own profile. Here's the problem. Do I really want to create another distraction in my life? Another reason to tell the kids-hang on I'll be done in a sec? Another thing to keep up and current?
So if you're a true Facebook believer-sell me.

I'm not sure if I am a believer, yet, but I just recently opened an account and it's kind if fun. And addicting. People that you haven't talked to in YEARS and YEARS invite you to be their friend and it's kind of cool seeing what they're up to without having to actually talk to them. Is that mean?? Anyway, just do it and if you hate it you don't have to keep up with it.

Ah, but my fear is I'll love it and never leave the house or shower again. :)

You will love it. You will not shower for the first week. THEN you'll eventually get used to it and not be obsessed.

I agree with Jenn. The love and obsession does die down after awhile. Your kids and house will just have to go on without you the first week.

yes, jen has it right 100%. plus, if anyone writes on your wall, you get it in an email, so you don't even have to get on fb if you don't want to. and finding old friends is way cool, too. its fun to find people you liked and even more fun to find people you hated...

yeah, i'm not even sold yet myself -- truth be told my husband set me up! (on facebook)

i've found a few long-losts so far...kinda groovy, and been added to at least one person's "friend list" who is waaaaay cooler to have as a friend than a stay-at-home mom in jersey deserves. it's my ego...keep feeding it.

I decided not too. Too much going on to be obsessed with another site to keep up. You can barely keep up with your blog right? - be realistic like me and keep to one.

Just my opinion.

There's really not much else worth living for.

Any teacher hired in my district - and many others around the country - are required to CLOSE their account before being offered a position. Hmm...

I haven't offered my two cents, so here goes:
1- I still don't really get Facebook
2- I still don't really know how to use it
3- I don't feel that addicted to it... probably due to numbers 1 and 2
4- It's great for getting in touch with friends from long ago. Especially with all our moving. And there have been some friends that I've gotten back in touch with and now we chat regularly, and others that I just got an update and we left it at that.

facebook > myspace

If you are looking for a way to keep up to speed with fam and friends, it's nice. Just don't get hooked on the applications that are available, and you'll be fine. I spend no more than 10 minutes a day checking up. I don't know how much Amanda uses her account though...
