NEWSFLASH: Tyler controls the weather!!!

Ty came in this morning and informed me that we were getting so much snow my head was going to blow off. Sure enough-it is coming down pretty hard. Then he tells me that a girl in his class told him if he jumped on his bed 4 times and then fell asleep it would snow. So being as trusting as he is (clearly something we need to work on) he tried it and it worked. He now believes that he made it snow. What a goof!

ALL BY MYSELF

I'm singing that song in my head, but not sad and sappy. Happy and thankful. Today I had a doctors appt. and so I left the boys w/ my sister. She so kindly offered to let me run some errands afterwards and she'd keep the boys until about 2. So I bought a bunch of stuff we needed for the baby and then I-Cydney Barno- went out to lunch all by myself. Alone. Nobody else but me. I went to Panera and got a soup and sandwich and listened to my ipod. Alone-did I mention that? It was just really nice and relaxing and I'm so happy for these opportunities-as rare as they are. So thanks again Jenn. I'm set for another 5 years-which is probably when I'll do that again!

It made me laugh

I just heard on the radio that whistling is a lost art. The dj was saying that nobody under the age of 50 whistles anymore and I started thinking about it and it's totally true. I never hear anybody whistling a tune (or whistling at me :( )My mom is quite the talented whistler and she always whistles while she's cooking, cleaning, weeding, etc. - maybe I don't whistle b/c I know I can't measure up to my mom's mad skills (plus I think I just really learned how to whistle in the last 5 years).

Any thoughts as to why nobody whistles anymore? Perhaps we're all too "plugged in" w/ ipods and tv? does it hurt our mouths?

Roller Coaster Mania

We decided to give the boys a gift a little early. I know, this is lame. But I found it used and I was dying to give this crazy roller coaster to them. Plus I was afraid it would overshadow the real gift we got them on Christmas. This will be posted about on Christmas. (well, in theory it would be, I'll probalby do it in March.) Tyler's friend from school has this toy, and though it looks kind of lame and small, the kids LOVE it. They've gone backwards, forwards, eyes closed. Phil even managed to go down it (which was a painful experience for him-duh.) I anticipate hours of fun in the basement, and then when warm weather rolls around fun in the backyard. So hooray for hideous plastic!!!

Fall 2008

I guess when you don't blog for months it becomes this huge job and I feel like every moment must be shared. So sorry for the large number of pics!
We went to Lee's Turkey Farm to pick apples to make applesauce.
the boys were such great helpers. I coudln't get them off the ladders!

Woops! Too much weight on the back.

Doesn't he look so little?!?!

tyler becomes the photographer.

I had to show that yes my boys do like each other!

it's hard to see, but Ty and his friend made a spiderweb out of yarn across the entire backyard.

We went to Windsor Farm to get pumpkins and the boys loved riding the ponies.

Chase wouldn't stop petting his "hosie" the entire walk.

This is some serious pumpkin carving

This is a spider. duh-can't you see that?

The boys. Chase is wearing a Dodgers jacket which is actually a sin in our home. Thanks Jenn.

Showcasing the monster leaf he found. It's bigger than his head! This is what we spent hours raking from our yard. Sigh...

Baking pumpkin cookies. This is the day after the Phillies won the World Series.

The men hard at work.

Ty after his preschool presentation.

Thanksgiving! Mom and the Shafers and Meyersons were over for dinner. Here Mom and Chasey are prepping apples for pie. GOOOO Team work!

Chase passed out around 6:00. Good food and fun I'd say!

Lexi and Ty are still buds.

I look beached. I was.

Trav did a treasure hunt for the kids.

This is the only pic of Jenn and the Shafers. So sorry!
Making then immediately eating the traditional jubilee cookies.
This is how I ended up looking at the end of the day. Frightening outfit. For those of you concerned, I don't think I've permanently lost my fashion abilities.
The guys spent many hours on the wii.
Trav reading at the end of a long day.
THE END

Such strange happenings here at the Barno's

These are just some of the things we've been doing around here...
The Jester mowing the lawn.
Chase attempts roller skating. It didn't end well.

He also vacuums. He's a man of many talents.

We had many popcorn parties watching movies so I could rest. Apparently pants were optional.

We've had LOTS of hot chocolate.

I baked. You can see it all on my butt and thighs.

Ty helped in the kitchen.
Chase has started sleeping under his bed. As you can see-not much head space. What a weirdo.

Chase makes the funniest faces. I can't imagine where he learned that from...

We've made more train tracks than I'd like to think about...

When it's a long day and you're bored, just go outside and glue things on cardboard. Hours of enjoyment.
